One woman.

One bike.

No sense of direction.

Racing to Rhodes.

"A riotous ride through South Africa's premiere extreme challenge, the Race to Rhodes, Ingrid's personal account is Hilarious. Irreverent. Inspirational. As rapid and raucous a read as the final downhill on the Race to Rhodes. Racier actually. And funnier."

If the Cleat Fits tells the real-life story of Ingrid's adventures while participating in the Race to Rhodes, an extreme, non-stop, self-navigational, mountain bike race from Pietermaritzburg to Rhodes in South Africa.

A journey of 500 kms, it takes place in mid-winter, through some of the most spectacular, mountains, forests and grasslands of South Africa, connecting with remote communities.

The escapades described in the book are based on real-life situations that occurred over two separate Races to Rhodes some years back.

Brave, tenacious and wickedly witty, Ingrid’s self-effacing commentary belies a fierce intellect and a deep commitment not only to extreme personal challenges, but, more significantly, to community upliftment - through health-focused interventions.

It is Ingrid’s wish for this, and future, books to sell enough for Ingrid to sustain her developmental work which is dedicated to providing inspiration for African women of all ages to get active and out there.

Ingrid has a PhD in physiology from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa where she lectured and headed up the School of Physiology Exercise Lab, before she semi-grated to the coast to dedicate more time to her endurance sports, motherhood, and community projects.

Ingrid is available for motivational talks, mentoring and coaching.
